Medical Director, The Vein Institute
Dr. Raj Pyne is a board certified interventional radiologist who specializes in minimally invasive procedures. He is the Medical Director of The Vein Institute. Dr. Pyne’s main clinical interests and expertise involve treating varicose veins, venous insufficiency, pelvic congestion syndrome, and venous thromboembolism. He also has extensive experience with complex AAA endoleak embolization, visceral aneurysm coiling, interventional oncology (minimally invasive cancer treatments), balloon kyphoplasty, AVM treatment, as well as uterine artery embolization. He has been invited to give numerous lectures on topics at national meetings and is involved with multiple ongoing research projects.
He is the Program Director for the Interventional Radiology Residency at Rochester General Hospital as well as the Assistant Program Director for the Diagnostic Radiology Residency. His leadership experience includes being a Councilor on the Executive Council for the Society of Interventional Radiology (SIR), leading SIR’s Private Practice Advisory Committee, helping to create the new standardized curriculum for the IR residency, and being part of the American Board of Radiology’s redesign for online longitudinal assessment of continuing medical education standards. Dr. Pyne was voted as the ‘Attending Teacher of the Year’ previously by the residents.
Dr. Pyne lives in Pittsford with his wife, Dr. Sonia Pyne, an anesthesiologist at the University of Rochester Medical Center, and their two sons. He is an avid fan of the New York Knicks, New York Giants, and New York Mets while also enjoying traveling and being a car enthusiast.
